Mehler Engineered Defence GmbH (MED) is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mehler Vario System GmbH in Fulda, whose core business has been the production of ballistic vests for police and military and customers for over 30 years. Within the consolidated companies we develop and produce complex platform protection systems covering the entire range of naval craft, ground vehicles and aircraft as well as protection systems for critical infrastructures.

 As a fully integrated company we have unique expertise ranging from the choice of fibre and the production of woven material to the combination with other protective materials, such as steel or ceramics. This is completed by the in-house ability to provide systems integration of complex protective superstructures into new developments as well as into existing systems.

As the highly capable engineering partner, MED takes care of the development of your protection concept, systems integration and testing as well as the serial production. This includes the technical consulting, vulnerability analyses of the system and the evaluation of technical protection and anti-terror measures.

The excellent expertise in the protection sector combined with the commitment of experienced engineers and the application of efficient CAD-systems, test capabilities in the area of ballistic testing, blast and mine, as well as extensive analyses to assess the environmental impact guarantee a target-oriented and cost-effective implementation of the protection requirements.

At IDET, MED will present a wide range of ballistic personal-protection shields. Each of these shields has been developed and manufactured according to customer-specific designs in various protection classes, including NIJ 0108.01, VPAM, TR bullet-resistance, and other standards related to protection against long- and short-range weapons threats.
