IDET, PYROS & ISET 2021 will show innovations in the defence and security industry
The IDET, PYROS, ISET security fairs will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 6 to 8 October 2021. The event is a major trade fair of the latest defence and security technologies. Thanks to the concurrent holding of these fairs, participants will get an overview of the offer in several related fields, latest information and new contacts in one place. The security fairs will be among the first major international trade fairs to be held in the Czech Republic after the lockdown.
Defence industry platform
"The world is permanently facing new security challenges. The security fairs are a traditional platform for the presentation of innovations in the field of defence and security technology, which increases our security. At the same time, they serve to support exports and the development of international cooperation in the security industry," said Jiří Kuliš, CEO of Trade Fairs Brno, concerning the importance of the expo. A significant impetus for the expo is the modernization of the Czech army and other security forces. The Czech defence and security industry has been one of the major export sectors for a long time. Many Czech companies have won significant contracts on markets worldwide. In 2020, annual exports reached CZK 17 billion.
Representative participation
More than 490 companies participate in the security fairs, including a number of important members of the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic. "The exhibition area is full to capacity. The security fairs are reaching the level of previous years and companies have shown extraordinary interest in the fair even at this time. A number of exhibitors have also expanded their displays," said Michalis Busios, director of the security fairs. An important part of the IDET trade fair will also be the joint exposition of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the Army of the Czech Republic.
The expo will also feature companies such as Aero Vodochody, Agados, CROY, Czechoslovak Group, Česká zbrojovka, EVPÚ DEFENCE, Meopta, Sellier & Bellot, SKUPINA, a. s. , STV Group, Trade FIDES or state enterprises such as LOM PRAHA, VOP CZ, Military Research Institute (Vojenský výzkumný ústav) and Military Technical Institute (Vojenský technický ústav). For example, AIR-tech PD, JISR Institute, JUFA or LPP will be introduced at the expo for the first time.
The partner of the fair is Lockheed Martin, a major US company, which operates in the field of security and aviation. The company focuses on research, design, development, manufacturing and integration of state-of-the-art technological systems, products and services. The fair will furthermore be attended by foreign companies such as ARQUUS, DEFENTURE, General Dynamics, IAI – Israel Aerospace Industries, John Cockerill Defense, KMW, Nexter Systems, PATRIA, Rheinmetall and others. The Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic will also present its display. Companies such as BIRD Aerosystems, Fischer Panda, G&G PARTNERS or Polimaster Europe will come from abroad for the first time. The highlighted country of IDET will be Israel. The Ministry of Defence of Israel will also present itself through SIBAT Israel.
Start-up Innovation Pavilion
The expo will also feature a project named Start-up Innovation Pavilion, organised by the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic. Its goal is to enhance the visibility of innovative Czech start-up companies in the field of defence and security technologies. A total of five companies – CactuX LINACTON, OteSound, Quantasoft, SPACEKNOW and Spectrasol – will present themselves at the Exhibition Centre as part of this project.
International delegations
A number of international delegations are about to appear at the expo this year as well. "IDET will show that the Czech defence industry was not asleep during the covid pandemic and that it has something to offer the world. I am convinced that foreign delegations at the fair will find what the armed and security forces of their respective countries need," said Jiří Hynek, President and Executive Director of the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic. Delegations from countries such as Pakistan, North Macedonia, Sweden and Ukraine have been confirmed. The fair will also be visited by the Minister of Defence of Hungary and the participation of the Minister of Defence of Slovakia is anticipated. Delegations from Israel, Kuwait or South Africa will attend the fair as part of incoming missions.
Overview of the Integrated Rescue System
Concurrently with the IDET trade fair, the PYROS and ISET trade fairs will also be held. The sectoral scopes of these trade fairs are very close to each other; hence, the participation is extremely advantageous for exhibitors. A number of companies supply equipment simultaneously for the armed forces, police and fire brigade as well as other armed forces. The Police of the Czech Republic, the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, the Customs Administration of the Czech Republic, the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, the Administration of State Material Reserves of the Czech Republic and the Brno Municipal Police will have their displays at the expo. Featured companies include, for example, Audiopro, DEKONTA, DENIOS, Holík International, THT Polička and TRUCK SERVIS Čáslav. An attractive part of the security fairs will also be the IDET ARENA, where demonstrations of army, firefighting and police equipment as well as simulated interventions of special forces will be available for viewing.
Health and safety rules
Appropriate health and safety rules will apply at the IDET, PYROS and ISET trade fairs, in order to ensure a safe holding of the event. Entry into the halls will be possible only upon presentation of a valid certificate of infection-free status according to the O-N-T system (a Czech acronym meaning you either need to get the covid-19 vaccine, or must have had the disease in the past, or have a negative covid-19 test). "This measure is becoming the European standard for visiting restaurants, hotels and other establishments, including trade fairs. Additional safety measures will include respiratory protection according to currently applicable rules and compliance with social distancing," added Busios.
