During the last supporting programme, we started presenting important personalities of the Czech design jewellery – the visitors could admire the work of the world renowned jewellery maker Karel Votipka – and this year we will continue with pieces designed by Lada Vosejpková.

Lada Vosejpková founded her studio in Plzeň in 1990 an ever since she has devoted herself to jewellery making. Her favourite metal is silver processed by melting. Coarse and usually matt surface is characteristic of her jewels as well as her larger items. The play of glossy and dark tones of silver is sometimes brightened by a fine line or a gold foil , sometimes the metal and subdued colourity is underlined by a sparkling stone, enamel or silk.

Jewels designed by Vosejpková are usually dominated by a stone. To her, stones are fascinating creations of the Nature that keep enchanting and inspiring her with their various colours, shapes and structures. She uses them faceted and non-faceted, tumbled, often in raw unprocessed condition. In every stone there is beauty which is sometimes visible in the raw shape and at other times it only gets revealed after cutting.

Since mid-1990s , she has cooperated with Oděvní ateliér ŠaT, presently with Ateliér Tomandlová in Cheb. Together, they hold fashion shows several times a year along with the summer and autumn sales exhibitions in the studio of Mrs. Vosejpková in Plzeň. Oděvní ateliér Lenky Tomandlové is characterised by the exclusive use of natural materials – largely linen, wool and silk, sensitive treatment of materials, original and wearable ideas and quality dressmaking. Over the years, this cooperation has given rise to „jewel-clothes“, where the jewel becomes an integral part of the clothes and the models are embellished with silver or stone buttons.

Besides jewellery, Lada Vosejpková also creates small items: candlesticks, vases, bowls, paper-weights, salt cellars, match boxes etc. All her jewels and items made of precious stones are marked with the L.V. brand and hallmarked in line with the law of the CR.

In 2009, she started experimenting with fused glass and its combination with silver and natural stones.

Her most favourite material is still silver. She creates various layers, cuts, melts it and then makes it antique. Sometimes she combines silver with yellow gold and often with stones.

The pieces designed by Vosejpková are on display at exhibitions both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
