This autumn’s „Minerals Brno“ will again by accompanied by a supporting exhibition, this time dedicated to the Minerals of the Jeseníky region (North Moravia, Czech Republic). Mineralogical riches of this region will be presented through several hundreds of minerals and precious stones.
There will be examples from well-known ore deposits such as Zlaté Hory, Horní Benešov, Horní Město, Zálesí, Horní Hoštice and Nová Ves u Rýmařova, contact minerals localities - Žulová, Vápenná, pegmatites - Maršíkov, Vernířovice, and metamorphosed rock minerals found at Zlatý Chlum, Sobotín, Petrov nad Desnou, Nový Malín, Branná, Krásné u Šumperka and the Alps associations - Vernířovice, Sobotín. Besides the region of Jeseník, the exhibition will also showcase the mineralogical localities of Rychlebské hory and Šumperk.
Other interesting exhibits to be mentioned are comprehensive sets of minerals found at the oxidation zones of the Zlaté Hory and Nová Ves u Rýmařova deposits, long cerussite needle crystals, very rare berlinites (Zlaté Hory is the only locality in the CR where they can be found) and 1 cm gold plates. What will also be on display will be examples of nickeline, skutterudite, clausthalite and pure silver from the Zálesí and Horní Hoštice deposits and rare jordanites, silver minerals and brown pyromorphites from Horní Město and unique pseudomorphoses of quartz- calcite and baryte with the original crystal size over 10 cm from the old quarry at Bohrloch u Lipové. Rare examples of gold and accompanying tellurides from Zlatý Chlum u Jeseníku will be showcased along with ample exhibits of garnets – almandites.
Non-ore minerals that will attract attention will certainly include beautiful large crystals of epidotes, magnetites, garnets from Sobotín and examples of floating garnets and crystal clusters with epidotes, vesuvians and hessonites from Žulová and Vápenná. There will also be well-known beryls and chrysoberyls from Maršíkov and Vernířovice and examples of crystals from Korálové jámy, Mísečné and Stará Červená Voda. Limestone quarries in Horní Lipové offer numerous examples of malachites and chrysocolla and quartz crystal clusters. Beautiful and little known examples include samples of prehnite, rutile minerals and red anatase from the surroundings of Skřítek (Vernířovice).
