The gallery of Hall B will host public tasting of wines participating in the GRAND PRIX VINEX 2014 competition on the weekend of May 24 – 25, 2014, concurrently with the MINERALS BRNO exhibition.

GRAND PRIX VINEX is an  annual international wine competition held in the Czech Republic; it is intended for wine growers, traders and distributors. The aim of the competition is to evaluate and reward, to high professional standards, the best wines from Europe and the world, present on the wine market in the Central-European region.

This year's GRAND PRIX VINEX competition will be held on different dates than the VINEX/SALIMA fair; a public presentation of competition wines and the awards ceremony will be held at the Brno Exhibition Centre on May 24, 2014, exactly in the time of the MINERALS BRNO exhibition and in the same Hall B - on the gallery.

The wines will be evaluated by an international jury composed  of renowned wine tasters at the National Wine Centre in Valtice. Wine evaluation will take place on the platform of the professional computer system ELWIS for evaluation of wines, which was developed by the National Wine Centre. The level of competition is guaranteed by a team of experienced professionals from the National Wine Centre. The competition is held in cooperation with the company BVV Trade Fairs Brno and the Czech Confederation of Winegrowers. Medals will be awarded according to the achieved score. Prizes will be announced for the best wine collection holders, for category winners and national winners for the countries that entered with at least 10 wines. The winners of the main prizes will obtain prestigious glass goblets designed by the world-renowned artist Bořek Šípek.

The public tasting  of competition wines is also open to visitors and exhibitors of the MINERALS BRNO exhibition.
