Supporting exhibition will introduce the mineralogical riches of Jeseníky
This autumn’s Minerals Brno will again by accompanied by a supporting exhibition, this time dedicated to the Minerals of the Jeseníky region. A total of 500 samples of minerals and precious stones will be on display presenting the mineralogical reaches of the region.
There will be examples from well-known ore deposits such as Zlaté Hory, Horní Benešov, Horní Město, Zálesí, Horní Hoštice and Nová Ves u Rýmařova, contact minerals localities - Žulová, Vápenná, pegmatites - Maršíkov, Vernířovice, and metamorphosed rock minerals found at Zlatý Chlum, Sobotín, Petrov nad Desnou, Nový Malín, Branná, Krásné u Šumperka and the Alps associations - Vernířovice, Sobotín.
The exhibition will be dedicated to the region of Jeseníky as well as the mineralogical localities of Rychlebské hory and Šumperk. The visitors can also admire minerals from other, usually less known localities, such as Potúčník, Stará Červená Voda, Velká Kraš, Skorošice, Adolfovice, Krákořice, Horní Lipová (Pomezí and Bohrloch).
Important exhibits that the visitors to the November exhibition can see include very comprehensive sets found at the oxidation zones of the Zlaté Hory and Nová Ves u Rýmařova deposits. Zlaté Hory is the locality of exceptionally long cerussite needle crystals (length over 5 cm), very rare berlinites, which are only found in the Czech Republic in this locality, or up to 1 cm bog gold plates. Nová Ves u Rýmařova offers high quality samples of cerussites (triplets up to 1 cm), anglesites, pyromorphites or dundasites rare in the CR (hemisphere-shaped with a diameter of 4 mm). What will also be on display will be examples of nickeline, skutterudite, clausthalite and pure silver from the Zálesí and Horní Hoštice deposits and rare jordanites, silver minerals and brown pyromorphites from Horní Město and unique pseudomorphoses of quartz- calcite and baryte with the original crystal size over 10 cm from the old quarry at Bohrloch u Lipové. There will also be rate samples of gold (also crystallised) and accompanying tellurides from Zlatý Chlum u Jeseníku will be showcased along with ample exhibits of garnets – almandites.
Non-ore minerals that will attract attention will certainly include beautiful large crystals of epidotes, magnetites (crystals 1 cm), garnets (almandines –crystals up to 3 cm) from Sobotín and classic examples of floating garnets (hessonites – over 8 cm) and crystal clusters with epidotes, vesuvianite and hessonites from Žulová and Vápenná.. There will also be well-known beryls and chrysoberyls from Maršíkov and Vernířovice and examples of crystals from Korálové jámy, Mísečné and Stará Červená Voda. Limestone quarries in Horní Lipové offer numerous examples of malachites and chrysocolla and quartz crystal clusters. Beautiful and little known examples include samples of prehnite, rutile minerals and red anatase from the surroundings of Skřítek (Vernířovice).
Regional collectors will certainly appreciate interesting collections of minerals from Potúčník u Hanušovic with quality andalusite crystals, multiple examples of pyrophyllite and sapphire and corundum, kyanite from a locality of Franziskazeche which does not exist any longer (now a part of Šumperk).
The supporting exhibition on the Mineralogical riches in the region of Jeseníky will also be accompanied by the exhibition dedicated to contemporary jewellery stones and jewels designed by renowned jewellery maker Karel Votipka.
