Horses at National Show of Livestock 2023
The horse
exhibition programme will run every day on three demonstration sites: the Main
Arena, the Ring, and the outdoor mountain trail. More than 140 horses will take
turns in the Main Arena. Visitors can watch breeders' shows of the individual
breeds in the morning, and from 11:30 AM onwards, the extra programme will
begin with demonstrations of the use of horses.
The longest swinging rope bridge in the Czech Republic will also be installed in the outdoor demonstration area.
The National Show of Livestock 2023 in Brno will present the following breeds:
Moravian Warmblood – a versatile sport horse breed originating from Europe. Warmbloods bred on the territory of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire belonged to the so-called Austro-Hungarian half-breed tribes and served in the cavalry troops of the army. This breed cannot be missing at the show.
One of the cold-blooded horse breeds that visitors to the National Show of Livestock will be able to see in April is the Czech Norik. The horses will be featured both in the demonstration of a breeders' collection and in the daily afternoon extra programme.
In 2021, Icelandic horses from the farm of Mrs. Anna Dives in the village of Milevo near Kladruby (Stříbro district) were presented for the first time at the National Show of Livestock. This year you will once again see them in Brno.
One of the smallest, oldest and least demanding breeds is calling for your attention. From its original homeland in the Shetland Islands, north of Scotland, where the Shetland Pony was used for working in mines and carrying loads, it quickly spread almost all over the world.
Miniature horses were crossbred from several breeds, and mainly in different geographical areas, as a result of breeders' efforts to obtain a curious breed of horses of small stature. The aim of such breeding was to miniaturize the breed while maintaining a solid body posture, harmonious appearance, and robust health without any signs of possible overbreeding and subsequent degeneration.
Equestrian quadrille will feature four Friesian horses:
Tajfun with Vendulka Šponarová
Atos with Isabella Knýblová
Wickey van Dupaumolen with Denisa Budáková
Irving van Dupaumolen with Kateřina Šálková
