For the ninth time exhibits at the OPTA trade fair competed for the award of the best among them and this time a professional committee was selecting from fourteen entries and eight nominated products. Four awards for the winners were presented at the opening of the exhibition to representatives of exhibiting companies Safilo, Rodenstock Czech Republic, Sagitta and Omega Optix.

The highlighted theme of this year's fair is "Fashion And Glasses" and the winner of this special category, GUCCI Sunglasses GG 2235/N/S, is a new exclusive model from the "Gucci Bamboo" line. The committee was attracted by the connection of first-class workmanship with an elegant finish of gold, complemented by natural bamboo material. The winning model presented by Safilo is plated with 18-carat gold, both the rim and lenses.

In the category of spectacle frames and sunglasses - technological innovations, an exhibit presented by Rodenstock succeeded. Porsche Design P8581 sunglasses are representative of modern, slightly extravagant style featuring attractive colour combinations. The speciality that  ensures the user a comfortable fit lies in the unique combination of lightweight materials and specific properties using polyamide lenses.

Another awarded novelty for the Czech market highlights a digital reading device with a voice output, ReadEasy + Move by Sagitta company Ltd. - the winning exhibit of the Special Optics competition category. A product of VisionAid International is designed primarily for clients with significant visual impairment, but also applicable to a wider range of users. A special reader with voice output enables easy reading of documents and books, including larger volumes, can read text even from round objects thanks to modern technology. It can be connected to a monitor, newer television set or synchronized with one’s computer. With this function, one can convert the captured text into digital formats. "ReadEasy+ is a ground-breaking innovation will significantly improve the quality of everyday life of all clients with visual impairment. We appreciate the tremendous effort by Sagitta, thanks to whom this novelty succeeded in arriving on the Czech market, having ensured 95 percent reimbursement of the cost by social insurance," said a member of the evaluation committee Alexandra Kovačiková.

The last category of Technology in Optics was won by an Omega Optix Lenses Sales Catalogue Application designed for iOS and Android. It is a very simple, intuitive and effective tool in the selection and sale of lenses for the end customer. The application with a complete product range of lenses and finishes can fully replace paper catalogues with more efficient and faster update options. It constitutes a modern way of communication with the customer in a shop and is linked to other applications and simulations that present the features and benefits of various lenses. "All registered exhibits met the parameters comparable with world leaders, and therefore the committee's decision-making was very difficult," said the member of the evaluation committee Alexandra Kovačiková, member of the board Optical Union of Slovakia, appreciating the high level of Top Opta 2014 competition. "I was very surprised how wonderful, innovative and original ideas and exceptional products were presented by exhibitors this year, they deserve our appreciation and many thanks," she said.

Not only winning exhibits, but also all the nominations may be seen by visitors in a special showcase at the stand of Czech Opticians and Optometrists Association in Hall B. They can also voice their opinion and thus help decide the winner of Professionals’ Top Opta in 2014, which will again go to a single exhibit across all categories. Voting can take place electronically on the www.bvv.cz/opta portal or directly in Hall B, until Saturday 6 p.m., when the competition will be closed. Professionals’ Top Opta Award 2014 will be presented during the social event on Saturday evening.
