For the first time, OPTA 2020 will present a selection of optician and optometrist Vilém Rudolf's private collection; he has been dealing with the history of glasses for a long time.

The exhibition maps the worldwide development of aids for better vision and shows historical spectacles, spectacle cases, magnifying glasses and theatre glasses from the fourteenth to nineteenth centuries. Visitors will also see unique items that no other similar collection contains: historical glasses from China, pure gold and silver glasses, ancient shark leather cases, or seventeenth-century glasses found in excavations in Amsterdam. Similar artefacts, as well as an exhibition of this scale, have never been seen in the Czech Republic. The exhibition can be viewed together with its author and owner of the collection Vilém Rudolf in the form of guided tours on Friday at 5 pm and on Saturday at 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm.
