International Eye Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Fair
OPTA will show the history and future of eye optics
The 26th session of the OPTA International Eye Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Fair will open its gates in just a few weeks. Eye care professionals will meet in Brno on the weekend of 13-15 March. There will be an exhibition of historical glasses, a lecture on the role of social networks in the promotion of eye optics, and a presentation of global design trends. And, of course, there will be new collections of frames and sunglasses and new innovations from leading suppliers.
Top exhibits from market leaders
Visitors to Brno will be the first to see all the new products that companies keep hidden until their premiere at the expo. Carl Zeiss will also bring its revolutionary ZEISS VisuFit 1000 digital 3D centration platform, which contains nine cameras. In addition to accurate measurement of parameters, it can create an avatar head, which in the future will virtually test different spectacle frames from the catalogue. Omega Optix will boast its individual progressive lens, Exact DS Fusion, which is tailored to the customer through state-of-the-art digital support. Safilo's innovations will feature, among others, its new Carrera collection, also popular with Formula 1 drivers. At Aglaja's exposition, you will see a new collection by designer Caroline Abram, who was a guest at OPTA last year and won the Grand Prix at Silmo Paris. Rodenstock promises a big surprise from which only the name has been revealed so far – its revolution PRODUCT is called B.I.G.
Of course, novelties are awaiting you at every stand. In addition to those already mentioned, companies such as Alcon Pharmaceuticals, AMBG, CooperVision, DUOS, Gafas, Johnson & Johnson, Mi.optics, Mr. Gain, New Line Optics, Optika Čivice, Optiland, Optiplast Eyewear, Opti – project, ProdesignSK, Pronap, Sagitta, Sover, UVEX Safety CZ and many others will be exhibiting. The best exhibits will once again compete for prizes in the TOP OPTA competition. One competition category will focus on this year's highlighted theme, which is “Quality of Vision for All Generations”.
Unique exhibition of historical glasses
Expos show mainly a view into the future – where the development of technology is heading and what will be worn next season. But it is no harm to look back into the past and show the tradition from which the field came. For the first time, OPTA 2020 will present a selection of optician and optometrist Vilém Rudolf's private collection; he has been dealing with the history of glasses for a long time. The exhibition maps the worldwide development of aids for better vision and shows historical spectacles, spectacle cases, magnifying glasses and theatre glasses from the fourteenth to nineteenth centuries. Visitors will also see unique items that no other similar collection contains: historical glasses from China, pure gold and silver glasses, ancient shark leather cases, or seventeenth-century glasses found in excavations in Amsterdam. Similar artefacts, as well as an exhibition of this scale, have never been seen in the Czech Republic. The exhibition can be viewed together with its author and owner of the collection Vilém Rudolf in the form of guided tours on Friday at 5 pm and on Saturday at 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm. Do not miss out on it!
How to do social networks and other interesting topics
Information on trends and current topics in the field of eye optics and ophthalmology will be brought to you again by the expert programme. All interested visitors and exhibitors are invited to the OPTA FORUM lecture hall on Friday and Saturday. For example, they will learn about how to effectively use social networks to promote eye optics. Which networks to choose? What audiences can we find there? What content shall we create for them? These and other questions will be answered by two expo lectures delivered by Jana Kovářová from the international agency Havas Prague; the lectures will take place on Saturday from 10 am and from 2 pm.
Optician Tomáš Haberland will give a lecture on the history of sight correction before the invention of glasses (Saturday from 11 am) and there will also be a popular lecture by Dutch designer and trend specialist Ellen Haeser, this time from 1 pm on Saturday, entitled TIMES ARE CHANGING. The complete programme of the OPTA FORUM lecture centre is available at https://www.bvv.cz/en/opta/expert-programme-opta/.
OPTA 2020 takes place in Hall B of the Brno Exhibition Centre, close to the Expo Parking multi-storey car park. On Friday and Saturday the expo remains open from 9 am to 7 pm, but on Sunday only from 9 am to 12 pm. OPTA Club Card holders enjoy free entry.
