This year marks the twelfth time the expert committee consisting of opticians and representatives of secondary and higher educational institutions in the field of eye optics, optometry and ophthalmology sat to select the best exhibits of the OPTA fair. The awards went to exhibitors Rodenstock ČR, COLOR-OPTIK, Johnson& Johnson, SAFILO and ESSILOR-OPTIKA.

Exhibits in five categories competed for the Top Opta 2017 awards and the winners have been announced at the OPTA PARTY on Saturday. In the category Technology for Eye Optics, the committee was impressed the most by an innovation presented at the stand of the company Rodenstock ČR. The DNEye® Scanner is a compact apparatus that combines seven measurement functions and helps them create perfect eyeglasses using each client’s maximum vision potential.

In the category Special Optics (children’s optics, sports optics, accessories), the award went to the new collection of a popular children’s eyeglass brand Nano Vista 2 in 1. The NANO Glow frames that are presented by the company COLOR-OPTIK at the OPTA fair for the very first time have glow-in-the-dark arms and increase safety of their young users.

In the closely-watched category Eyeglass and Contact Lenses, Treatment and Processing, the award went to the exhibit of the company Johnson& Johnson. Multifocal contact lenses 1-DAY ACUVUE® MOIST MULTIFOCAL are they only lenses on the market designed as aspheric lenses with the centre to close distance with optical designs optimized not only according to the patient’s age and addition, but also according to the pupil size depending on the primary refraction error.

The award-winning eyeglass frames are JIMMY CHOO JADE/S; this design combines sunglasses with earrings. The hot innovation for this year’s spring and summer presented by the company SAFILO impressed the committee by the fashion element – eyeglasses and a jewel in one – as well as by the excellent quality craftsmanship.  

The fifth category of the Top Opta 2017 competition was the highlight theme of this fair: “Spectacles and Sun”. In this category, the winner was the company ESSILOR-OPTIKA for their eyeglass lenses Flash to Mirror, that cunningly combine fashionable mirror look with the reliable technology of self-colouring lenses. The innovation comes in six fashionable shades and brings attractive design and high wearing comfort to its users as well as protects them against sunlight and dangerous blue-violet light.
