Brief characteristics of the exhibit
The first variety of caraway /Carum carvi L./ with a shortened length of the growing season, called the winter caraway. APRIM reached during registration test average yield of achenes 2.13 t / ha and the average content of essential oils in achenes more than 2.5 %. Due to the significantly shorter growing time Aprim escapes damage by the pest Aceria carvi and reduces the cost of crop protection.
Specification of advantages compared to the competitors
The first variety of caraway ( Carum carvi L.) with a shortened length of the growing season, called winter caraway. Existing registered varieties of caraway have the length of the growing season longer ca. 3-4 months, so APRIM due to the shorter length of the growing season allows additional harvest of preceding crop eg. barley. Thanks to shortened growing season APRIM escapes damage by the pest Aceria Carvi and reduces costly protection of growth caraway. The average yield of achenes was in state tests 2.13 t / ha and in the final year of state testing it overcame a biennial caraway by 80 %. The average content of essential oils in achenes is above 2.5%, with a higher proportion of carvone.
