At URBIS SMART CITY FAIR, solutions for cities and municipalities and technologies for autonomous vehicles will be presented
The fair of smart solutions for municipalities and cities URBIS SMART CITY fair 2021 will take place at the Brno Exhibition Center from 2 to 4 June. It also includes an extensive conference program. The last day of the fair will take place in the form of an excursion to city companies. This year will also include a demonstration of cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) technologies - the results of the C-Roads project.
Smart solutions for municipalities and cities
URBIS SMART CITY FAIR is primarily a presentation of smart solutions for municipalities and cities. The organizers expect over 100 exhibitors, mainly from the areas of equipment and services for the administration of municipalities and cities. The application of these solutions and the experience with them will then be presented by the speakers in the conference program, which will take place in three sections. The conference will open topics such as the environment, management, digitization or services for municipalities and cities. The speeches of individual speakers are planned so that those interested in a specific topic can comfortably complete all the blocks. It will be possible to participate in the conference part remotely.
European premiere of cooperative intelligent transport systems
The URBIS SMART CITY FAIR will include a presentation and a practical demonstration of the results of the C-Roads project, the aim of which was to develop technology enabling in-service vehicles to communicate with each other and with the transport infrastructure. Vehicles with C-ITS communication equipment were exhibited at the year 2020. The event is the culmination of five years of development, it is the first presentation of its kind in Europe intended mainly for national institutions and representatives led by individual transport ministers of all EU countries. The event will take place at the exhibition center, mainly in the form of a conference with a presentation of less than twenty pilot projects from Europe and demonstrations on the route inside the exhibition center and especially in the streets of Brno and the D1 motorway, where the communicating infrastructure is already installed. In addition to passenger cars, public transport vehicles and an integrated rescue system will also take part in the demonstration. The concurrence with the URBIS SMART CITY FAIR is mainly due to the fact that the infrastructure managers are municipalities and cities, or other public sector entities.
C-ITS technology is not only a major advance for the organization of transport in cities and municipalities and in achieving another level of traffic safety. It is also another step towards vehicle autonomy, which is the future of public passenger and freight transport in particular, as well as individual passenger transport. Autonomous solutions are in demand mainly from commercial carriers. The completion and implementation of this system in the states of the European Union will mean a new and, above all, safer future for transport. This future will start in June in Brno.
