URBIS will feature Urban Mobility Days
Brno will
become a showcase for the transport of the future in the second half of
September. The annual European Mobility Week will take place from 16 to 22
September, with the URBIS SMART CITY FAIR and FUTURE MOBILITY (20-22 September)
being held concurrently at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The URBAN
MOBILITY DAYS conference, integrated in the European Mobility
Week, will be part of the events at the exhibition centre. The location of this
conference in Brno is related to the Czech Presidency of the Council of the
European Union. The transport of the future will be presented at the Brno
Exhibition Centre in various forms. The already mentioned URBAN MOBILITY DAYS
conference will be held, another one-day conference event focusing on transport
will take place as part of FUTURE MOBILITY, and a three-day conference is part
of the URBIS trade fair, with transport topics – especially C-ITS and
autonomous mobility – also included in the programme. Both URBIS and FUTURE
MOBILITY will have their own exhibition area in Hall A, and Demo City will be
installed in the outdoor areas, where practical demonstrations will be staged –
such as driving autonomous vehicles, trans-shipping station for cargo trolleys
or urban furniture with the possibility of charging electric bikes.
The main topic of URBIS and FUTURE MOBILITY is the presentation of new transport system features based on mass transit, sharing, automation and digital technologies. This system is expected to bring reduced emissions, shorter travel times, higher quality of travel and transport of goods, comfort, safety and reduced dependence on the human factor. The last day of European Mobility Week, 22 September, is the European Car Free Day. A programme for the public is in the pipeline for this day at the Brno Exhibition Centre, especially for cyclists and fans of alternative transport modes.
Overall, the URBIS conference programme is divided into the Urbis Innovation (digitalisation, cybersecurity, communication and other related topics), Urbis Environment (effective response to climate change, Green Deal and local business development, carbon footprint reduction, energy and facilities management, waste, and circular economy), Urbis Management (effective management, cost reduction, staff training, project implementation and financing, strategic planning, and sustainable development), and FUTURE MOBILITY (transport).
