Internet of Things, Cloud and Mobile Computing, Big Data,
Digital Fabrication… are disruptive technologies that change the way we are
making cities all over the world. These are tools that beyond their smart and
digital components offer new avenues of possibilities for improving urban life.
Decoding the principles of the Smart City helped us in Barcelona to understand
the social, economic, environmental and technological challenges at play in the
transformation of the modern city. Like with the Human Genome, decoding this
urban DNA that harnesses masses of data, may help other cities to guide and
design their smart and digital transformation.
