International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry
WOOD-TEC Award winning exhibits
This year, for the first time ever, the first winners of the new WOOD-TEC Award exhibit competition were announced at the WOOD-TEC woodworking fair in Brno. At trade fairs worldwide it is quite common that the best people and the best exhibits that the fair offers are appreciated. Likewise, this competition aims to highlight and subsequently award the top exhibits and novelties that are presented at the Wood-Tec trade fair. The competition met with an extraordinary acclaim from exhibitors and a total of 34 exhibits competed in two basic categories: Machines, Equipment, Tools and Accessories, and in the field of Components. Exhibits in these categories were evaluated by two juries composed of experts in design, furniture, woodworking and timber processing machines.
Three exhibitors received the prize in the field of Components. The company FK dřevěné lišty brought in its flexible dukta wood, which, thanks to special milling, gains completely new features – it can be formed, while attenuating noise and meeting the highest demands of designers. Nobia s.r.o. shows its unique P- system for board joining in Brno, most often usable in the furniture-making industry. It is a sophisticated invisible system whose strength is guaranteed by plastic buckles inside the boards. The company Festool CZ, which introduces its Domino system, was also awarded for its innovative wood joining method.
Three exhibitors also scored in the Machines, Equipment, Tools and Accessories
category. Maffel A.G. was awarded for
its excellent cable saw for wood-fibre insulating material. Leitz has stunned the jury with this
year's novelty of its portfolio – the BrillianceCut
saw disc for cutting transparent plastics, which thanks to its construction
cuts so clearly that it is possible to skip the grinding process. The company SOUKUP s.r.o. convinced the jury with
the capabilities of machine and software combinations for the production of
taped windows, which was moreover completely created in the Czech Republic and
is now conquering foreign markets.
The jury also awarded two exceptional prizes to the company PANAS, spol. s r.o. for its broad belt
grinder in a configuration designed for special surface tearing effects, and
also to the company BRAS, s.r.o. for
its Concept formatting saw.
