International Fair of Regional Tourism

GO and REGIONTOUR 2013 with many innovations

Tourism fairs at the Brno Exhibition Centre significantly extend their programme. Next year’s edition, which will be held from 17 to 20 January 2013, will include a Festival of regional specialities and regional foods, a comprehensive presentation of Czech ski resorts or an extensive exhibition of "Holidays on Water" with boats and charters. The " bicycle village" also expands and support continues for religious and golf tourism. The opportunity to reach 35 000 visitors is used not only by regions and districts, but also by municipalities and their associations, travel agencies and individual service providers in tourism.

The basic structure remains unchanged. REGIONTOUR will present information about the current tourist offer and news for next year, a lot of inspiration to travel and an interesting supporting programme. All regions of the Czech Republic will be represented, and numerous newcomers will present their stands alongside traditional exhibitors. The new ones include the Association of Municipalities of Hlučín region, the town of Sokolov, Slovak city of Prešov, or a company Labe Gold Strip that stands behind the project of opening the 13th chambers of our castles and châteaux. A separate exhibition is prepared for the first time by the Czech Campsite Association, who will bring their first campsite catalogue to Brno, with a new categorization introduced this year. At the same time they will hold their general meeting at the fair and draw five winners of a survey on the fair stage, examining the opinions of campsite visitors and their requirements, and evaluating the quality of campsite services.

A novelty in Hall P will feature an integrated presentation of Czech and Moravian ski resorts which wants to reach visitors before the most important part of the season – the spring break. The central information stand of the Cable Car Transport Association will be linked to presentations of individual ski resorts clearly sorted by mountain ranges. Their offer will be emphasized by competitions with attractive prizes such as skiing passes for families with children, etc.

The trend of topical linking of offers in order to capture the interest of a specific group of visitors is not a complete novelty at REGIONTOUR. It was already established well in cycling last year, where, headed by the Kučera Znojmo Bicycle Club an offer of 25 partners was concentrated in one place. In January 2013 they will be joined by further 15 partners and thus the cycling village will grow to an impressive area of 600 m2, where visitors will find not only information materials on the trails, bike paths and accompanying services, but also offers of bicycles, accessories, clothing, bicycle racks etc. "Last year’s fair showed that it pays to concentrate the promotion of cycling in one place, so that visitors do not have to search and locate information on different stands. This year we put even more emphasis on a diverse representation of regions and local points of interests," says cycling village organizer Čestmír Vala, manager of Kučera Znojmo Bicycle Club. According to him, there were so many candidates for participation, so that the space dedicated to cycling was filled way in advance.

A presentation of possibilities for active holidays and leisure sport and movement also continues with other interesting projects. Again, there will be a show of golf resorts, a novelty focus presents outdoor, rafting and canyoning. But the biggest premiere will feature the Holidays on Water project with boats and sport boats, accessories and equipment for sailing, diving and other water sports. There will of course be also charter companies, for whom the January dates are absolutely ideal to attract clients for the summer season. With a little exaggeration we can say that the traditional Boat Brno exhibition moves into Hall F, which has been held in conjunction with the sports fairs until last year. In any case, fans of water sports and sailing holidays have certainly something to look forward to!

However, there is no end to the surprises and the largest is prepared by the organizers for followers of gastronomic tourism. Hall G1 awaits them with RegFoodFest 2013, where they can taste regional specialities presented by master chefs and choose from quality regional foods. In cooperation with the National Wine Centre, a presentation of Moravian viticulture and wine tourism is prepared, the project also includes a section for Microbreweries and a " coffee world". The same hall will be the venue for the finals of a traditional and prestigious Gastro Junior Brno - Bidvest Cup, which will measure the strength of best young chefs, pastry chefs and waiters. In light of the recent success of the senior and junior team of the Czech Republic in the Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, from where they brought the silver and bronze medals, it is clear that there will be something to watch.

It remains to add that the GO fair will again include a varied stage programme, which will involve the two largest trade associations - the Association of Czech Travel Agents and the Association of Czech Travel Agencies - as well as the National Office for Tourism. The motto for 2013 is "tasting, experiencing and choosing a holiday in one place". There is also the traditional GO kamera film festival, which is the largest gathering of travellers and explorers in the Czech and Slovak Republics. Professional trade visitors have Thursday 17 January reserved for them with the supporting programme including a workshop on religious tourism and a announcement of results of the tourism Grand Prix.
