Artillery Rocket Innovations Continue
ROKETSAN is continuing to improve its artillery rockets, which are currently in use by the Turkish Armed Forces and the company’s foreign customers, with an innovative approach.
Recently, the company has added guidance capability to its 122 mm and 300 mm rockets. The TIGER (TRG-300) Missile, delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces in November 2016 following a five-year design, development and qualification phase, has a minimum range of 30 km and a maximum range of 120 km. The TIGER, which moves towards its target by means of a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) aided Inertial Navigation System (INS), proved its efficiency at a range of 120 km during the challenging qualification tests conducted by the Turkish authorities. With its fragmentation (steel ball) warhead and proximity fuze, the missile can intensively and effectively cover critical point targets.
On the other hand, the TRG-122 brings the capabilities of the TIGER Missile to 122 mm calibers. The missile can effectively cover the targets under fire from a minimum range of 16 km and a maximum range of of 35 km.
Thus, ROKETSAN offers its customers:
- Missile with fragmentation (steel ball) warhead in the case of 300 mm calibre and
- in the case of the 122 mm, TR-122 rocket with high explosive warhead, TRB-122 rocket with HE-Fragmentation (steel ball) warhead and TRG-122 Missile with HE and HE-Fragmentation (steel ball) warhead.
By also taking its innovative approach to the system level, ROKETSAN has developed systems that are capable of launching different types of rockets and missiles from the same platform. The T-107/122 Multi Purpose and Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher (MBRL) System is capable of firing 3x20 rounds of 107 mm rockets or 1x20 round of 122 mm rockets/missiles.
It uses sealed and thermally insulated rocket pods. The T-122/300 MBRL on the other hand is a Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher System, which can be equipped with a 122 mm 2x20 tube or 300 mm 2x2 tubes, sealed pod. Both systems are capable of automatically identifying the type of pod placed in their multi purpose cradles. These pods offer minimum reloading time and maximum protection against adverse environmental conditions for the missiles and rockets placed on them. The systems that are configured on the 6x6 or 8x8 tactical wheeled vehicles include all the required subsystems to launch missiles and rockets with high precision on their targets.
ROKETSAN also facilitated the development of a tailor-made multiple cradle launcher for a customer abroad. Selçuk YAŞAR, President and CEO of ROKETSAN, shared his views about the artillery rocket and missile systems product family as follows: “We are continuing to add new capabilities to our systems, which we have developed with the aim of covering the critical targets under fire quickly and effectively, by amending them in line with technological developments and our customers’ requirements. ROKETSAN does not only offer high performance, cost-effective and reliable solutions but also continues to support its customers at all times, without imposing any export or use restrictions on its products.”
