International Defence and Security Technologies Fair

Brno Exhibition Centre will welcome a shamrock of security fairs: IDET, PYROS and ISET

On Wednesday 31 May, the gateways of the Security Fairs are opening:  the 14th IDET International Fair of Defence and Security Technology, the 18th PYROS International Fire Fighting Equipment and Services and the 9th ISET International Security Technology and Services Fair. It is a prestigious showcase of defence, fire and security technologies in Central and Eastern Europe. For the Czech defence and security industry, it is an extraordinary opportunity to comprehensively present its offer to potential customers around the world. This year's edition is taking place at a time of growing security risks and rising governments' willingness to invest in defence technology. This situation is reflected in an increased interest in participation: at IDET 2017, 390 exhibiting companies will be presented, i.e. about fifteen percent more than two years ago. At the Security Fairs there will be a showcase of products and services of 518 exhibiting companies from 31 countries. Thanks to the concurrent timing of these fairs, visitors will be able to find out about a range of related fields, up-to-date information and new contacts in one place.

IDET is of key importance to the domestic defence and security industry, a traditionally very strong sector that exports about four-fifths of its production. The IDET 2017 Fair, whose pro-export role is actively supported by the Ministry of Defence, should contribute to further successes of Czech manufacturers. The Brno Exhibition Centre will be attended by representatives of NATO, NATO Support Agency and EDA, as well as Foreign Ministries and Army Delegations, which are jointly invited by the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the company Trade Fairs Brno. The largest exhibitors of this year include companies such as Czechoslovak Group, British BAE Systems International, Omnipol, STV Group, VOP CZ, Agados, ERA, Rheinmetall, Zetor Brno, Česká zbrojovka and others. The largest foreign participation at the fair is owned by Turkey as a strategic member of NATO and an interesting partner for bilateral industrial co-operation.

Accompanying programme to tackle current security topics

Security experts from many countries are heading to Brno for prestigious conferences, the program of which is particularly busy this year. The Brno University of Defence traditionally organizes CATE (Community-Army-Technology-Environment) expert conferences.

The SECURITY TRENDS opening conference of last year’s IDET is followed on by the Cyber Pavillion in Hall P. It will host, for example, the finals of a cyber security high school competition, a hackers’ competition for the public, lectures, debates and the so-called Life Hacking. "The Cyber Pavilion responds to current security issues. The aim is to prepare for new partners, exhibitors, professionals and the general public a new concept of presenting modern trends and solutions in the area of cybernetic and information security, as well as introducing cyber security as part of a modern society that depends on information and communication technologies." explains the main functions Petr Jirásek, AFCEA International Regional Vice President for Central and Eastern Europe.

Two hundred representatives of municipal police forces from the Visegrad Four countries will debate about migration, international cooperation, cyber security, legislation and modern technologies at the Brno Exhibition Centre at the 2nd International Conference of Municipal Police Forces of the Visegrad Four Countries. It will take place as part of the IDET, PYROS and ISET international security fairs as an official accompanying programme to commemorate the anniversary of 25 years of municipal police activities. The conference is held on May 31 and the debate is divided into three thematic blocks where Czech and foreign experts will exchange their experiences and discuss current topics related to the activities of municipal and city police forces.

PYROMEETING 2017

The PYROMEETING conference will be part of the accompanying program of this year's IDET, PYROS and ISET security fairs held at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 31 May to 3 June 2017. The conference will be held on 1 June 2017 at Hotel Continental Brno. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Bohuslav Sobotka, was asked to take patronage over the conference and deliver an introductory speech. This year's conference will focus on the 25th anniversary of the Integrated Rescue System. It should not only recapitulate, but present the onset, current status and development trends of the basic components of the IRS in synergy during joint rescue and liquidation work. The program will be attended by representatives of some important other components of the Integrated Rescue System, which have long-term cooperation with the Czech Fire Brigade, such as the Czech Red Cross Water Rescue Service, Municipal Police of the Capital City of Prague  and the State Institute for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection. The programme will also focus on emergencies involving the occurrence of hazardous substances, development of operational and information centres and training of commanders and leaders of the Integrated Rescue System components.

Legiotrain at IDET

An attractive excursion to history will be prepared at the rail yard adjacent to Hall F. IDET will see three Legiotrain carriages and a crew with a Czechoslovak Legion members database. Every visitor can find out if he had a legionary among their ancestors. Thanks to the abundant attendance (last year the Legiotrain was visited by nearly 200,000 people), the database is successfully added on with photos, documents, memories and material items from the legionaries’ inheritance. Since the start in 2015, almost 2,500 legionary cards were added. In particular, there will be a tailor's carriage fixing old or sewing completely new uniforms for our foreign army in Russia, and a blacksmith’s car that was the only one of our set to be deployed in the war front. Up to now, you can find a bullet hole and a few smaller traces of bullets from handguns on the black roof beams. The last carriage of the set will be a postal ambulance. Using these wagons, the post of Czechoslovak legionaries and allied forces was transported on the Trans-Siberian Mainline Railway from 1918 to 1920. The original ambulances were constructed from freight wagons that had previously carried flour, coal or lime.

IDET ARENA

Not any less attractive will be demonstrations of army, fire and police equipment and special components on the field polygon. Visitors can enjoy, for example, demonstration rides of vehicles, dog and horse training  units, public order service groups of the Municipal Police, dynamic demonstrations of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic (escort under attack, vehicle intervention, intervention using a dog and Kraken), dynamic demonstrations of the Police of the Czech Republic (capturing of migrants with the use of technical means, an intervention of a mounted police unit,  and the Intervention Unit Brno in action), flight demonstrations of drones, demonstrations of the Fire Brigade components and a lot  more.
