International Sales Exhibition of Minerals, Fossils, Jewels and Natural Products

MINERALS BRNO for the second time along with the tasting of wines entered in the GRAND PRIX VINEX competition

 

In less than 2 weeks, in the weekend of 23rd – 24th May 2015, the Brno exhibition centre, Hall B, will host the 32nd sales exhibition of minerals, fossils, jewels and natural products MINERALS BRNO. Currently, over 170 exhibitors have registered for the exhibition, coming mainly from the Czech Republic, but also from Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, India, Italy and Lithuania. The exhibition will offer for view and sale jewels and designer’s jewellery, processed stones, collector’s stones, fossils, natural stones, decoration and home accessories made of precious stones and minerals, specialist literature and mineralogical and geological equipment.

New and interesting items presented by the exhibitors

The exhibitors‘ stands will offer new agates and collectors‘ minerals from Czech and international localities, precious stones and jewels from Peru, cut gem stones, moldavites and jewels made of moldavites and Czech garnets, new jewel stones from the USA – turquoises from Arizona and Nevada, wonder stones, Indian paint stones and dendritic agates from Oregon. Designer’s jewels will include tin jewels with precious stones and minerals, jewels made of surgical stainless steel, original jewels with gems and antique copper and jewels made using various jewellery-making techniques such as bead-weaving, tiffany-type jewellery, wire and enamel jewels.

MINERALS BRNO along with wine tasting

The visitors will not only be able to admire and buy jewels and stones for their collections or as home decorations but they will also be given an opportunity to taste wines entered in the GRAND PRIX VINEX 2015 competition. The MINERALS BRNO exhibition will take place along with wine tasting on the Hall B gallery featuring wines that have won high scores in the 22nd edition of this prestigious competition. The target of this competition is to make a professional evaluation every year and to award the best European and global wines available in the Central European markets. The visitors can pick and chose from close to 400 wine samples from the Czech Republic, as well as from Austria, Germany, Hungary or Poland, Argentina and New Zealand.

The champion of GRAND PRIX VINEX 2015 is Tokay from Hungary, the national winner of the CR is wine produced by the Winberg Mikulov winemakers

On 28th – 29th April 2015, the National Wine Centre in Valtice will host the evaluation of the 22nd edition of the international wine competition GRAND PRIX VINEX. The top international wine tasters awarded Tokay from Hungary the title of Champion, and based on the achieved scores, the best wines were awarded gold and silver medals, 10 wines even received the grand gold medals. Hall B will offer wines that have received a minimum of 80 points to be tasted.

Wines in the competition are subject to strict evaluation and only the very best receive a medal. Silver, gold and grand gold medals are awarded and the evaluation scores follow the internationally recognised point system. The main competition awardees are „Champions“, followed by the winners of the individual categories , the best ranked wine collections and national winners of countries that have entered a minimum of 10 wines. The producers of these wines will receive prestigious golden cups designed by the renowned designer Bořek Šípek.

First unofficial results for 2015 have been announced in Valtice:

• Category A winner (dry white wines): Grüner Veltliner, late harvest, 2013, produced by Víno Mikulov s.r.o., ČR
• Category A2 winner (demi-sec white wines): Cabernet Blanc 2014, produced by Weingut Anselmann, Germany
Category A3 winner (demi-sec white wines): Pinot Blanc , late harvest 2013, produced by WINBERG Mikulov, s.r.o. This wine has become the national champion – best rated wine from the Czech Republic.
Category B2 winner (rosé wine others): Merlot Rosé 2013, Víno Rovenius s.r.o., ČR
Category C1 winner (red dry wines): 1865 Single Vineyards Carmenére, 2012, Chile, imported by Adveal s.r.o.
• CHAMPION and Category D winner (naturally sweet wines): Tokaji Késöi Arany 2013, Tokaj Kereskedöház Zrt, Hungary
• Category F winner (sparkling wines): Louis Girardot brut 2010, BOHEMIA SEKT s.r.o., CR


The total official results of the competition, including the medal and prize awards, will be made public in the official competition catalogue.

The public will have an opportunity to become familiar not only with the award-winning wines at the Brno exhibition centre, Hall B gallery, between 23rd – 24th May 2015 as part of the MINERALS BRNO international exhibition.
