How are the first five Czech cities doing in implementing the principles of Smart Cities with the help of 5G networks, how is the state helping on this and what opportunities do the new generation networks offer Czech cities in their development. New facts were presented at the 5G seminar, which took place in the Czech National Exposition at the International Engineering Fair in Brno.

"The Czech government adopted the Smart Cities Concept in May this year. The goal is to systematically support the development of municipalities, cities and regions, even with an international outreach, which opens up an interesting space for the application of innovative solutions by Czech companies," says Martina Tauberová, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for the EU and Foreign Trade, and adds: We presented at this expo a new pro-export platform City For The Future, which brings together the Czech offer in the field of Smart Cities and presents the Czech Republic as a highly innovative country. Along with this, an export alliance called Elements for Smart City was established within the CzechTrade agency, by means of which we want to support specific business and marketing activities of Czech manufacturers. The alliance aims to supply mainly small and medium-sized municipalities of up to 100 thousand inhabitants."

"Significant economic and social value can be gained from large-scale deployment of 5G networks. Technological applications will facilitate industrial progress, help streamline the city and increase the quality and scope of public services for the population," says David Koppitz, Deputy Minister of Regional Development for Regional Development, and adds: "It can be assumed that by 2035, USD 13.2 trillion worth of goods and services will be produced and more than 22 million jobs created worldwide thanks to 5G networks."

Joint efforts of the research sector, technology companies, operators, the state and other institutions are supported within a common 5G alliance platform. It consists of 5 working groups deaing with 5 key areas that the platform is dedicated to.

The activities of the 5G Alliance are based on the approved government strategy "Implementation and Development of 5G Networks in the Czech Republic – Road to Digital Economy" and "Innovation Strategy of the Czech Republic 2019-2030 – The Country for the Future". Their stakeholders should jointly play an innovative, regulatory, strategic, security and support role in the implementation and development of 5G networks.
