OPTA
22.-24.2. 2013

International Fair for Eye Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology

Top Opta 2013 Awards won by four exhibits

The best exhibits of the OPTA fair competed for the eighth time and an expert committee was selecting from eleven nominated products. Four prizes for the winners were accepter during the fair opening by representatives of exhibiting companies – Funforsun, Alcon Pharmaceuticals, Spectra and Rodenstock CR.

Strong competition traditionally occurred in the category of spectacle frames and sunglasses, where jurors were eventually most attracted by the luxurious wooden FEB31st glasses, the Ara type. The exhibit is primarily unique by its material, the Italian firm 31 Febbrario used thirteen layers of poplar wood in its manufacture. Also an anatomical design that eliminates the disadvantage of traditional wooden frames is worth mentioning and it fits without modification even on Slavic faces. Glasses combining a retro design with the latest technology were exhibited at OPTA by Funforsun.

The spectacle and contact lenses category including their adjustment and processing was won by an exhibit presented by Alcon Pharmaceuticals, OPTI-FREE PureMoist is the only multipurpose desinfecting solution with unique hydrating matrix HydraGlyde, which provides 16hour moisture to the contact lenses. HydraGlyde embeds itself on the lens surface to keep contacts hydrated throughout the day, delivering comfort from insertion to removal. The dual disinfectants POLYQUAD and ALDOX act against harmful microorganisms including bacteria, fungi and acanthamoeba. OPTI-FREE PureMoist Contact Solution reduces lipid deposition and removes protein deposits helping contact lenses stay clean and feel fresh.

Another award-winning novelty for the Czech market, the camera reading magnifying glass Compact 4HD, is produced by the Dutch manufacturer Optelec. This high resolution magnifying glass can be used with its stand for convenient reading on the table, but thanks to a pocket design with adjustable magnification up to 12x it is also perfect for outdoors. One can also take pictures with it, it has a stylish compact design and intuitive handling, so it can become a useful tool to the visually impaired, both young as well as older people. The 4HD Compact electronic magnifier is exhibited by Spectra, the visually-impaired cooperative.

Top Opta 2013 was also awarded to the company Rodenstock CR, whose ImpressionIST® 3 system provides an automated and flexible digital centration. It is equipped with a unique technology with independent advisory unit and has already attracted by its sleek design. All of its three versions - a free-standing, wall-mounted and table top - will complement the interior of an optician’s and give it a hallmark of a workplace equipped with the latest technology. ImpressionIST 3 has already won the prestigious iF Award 2012 for design.

Not only the winning, but all nominated exhibits, can be viewed by visitors in a special showcase of the Association of Czech Opticians and Optometrists or here. They can also use their voice to co-decide about the holder of the Professionals Top Opta 2013, which, like last year, be presented to a single exhibit from across all categories. It was possible to vote electronically already in advance on the portal www.bvv.cz / OPTA and also during the fair at marked stands directly in Hall B, until Sunday morning, 24 February. The exhibit that receives the highest sum of both parts of the competition and gets the most votes will be officially announced on Sunday at 12 am at the exhibition stand of the winning exhibitors and will thus become a winner of Professionals Top Opta.
