Food fairs will focus on technology and food presentation
Food fairs are starting at the Brno Exhibition Centre on 27 February. They will last until 2 March and you can look forward to a comprehensive overview of food production and related industries. The SALIMA International Food Fair will be traditionally complemented by VINEX, the MBK International Milling Industry, Bakery and Confectionery Fair, and the INTECO International Fair of Equipment for Retail Trade, Hotels and Catering Facilities.

The new conception of the SALIMA International Food Fair and its accompanying events, which will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 27 February to 2 March, is already attracting interest from a number of companies.
What will the traditional food fairs bring in 2018?
The preparations of the 31st SALIMA International Food Fair and concurrently held events are already in full swing. Based on last year's feedback, interesting features are prepared for the next edition. For companies preferring the sale of food products, the total duration of the fair and the inclusion of a weekend day are being discussed.
Thirtieth anniversary Salima a success again
News from the food and drink sector and also the technologies for the processing, treatment and sales, as well as packaging and printing attracted tens of thousands of interested people to the Exhibition Centre. The concept of the morning hours dedicated to professional visitors, while in the afternoon the halls opened for the general public proved to be a good one. In comparison with the last edition there was a slight increase in the number of exhibiting companies and the exhibition area increased as well.
SZPI Survey: A Czech consumer has the same tastes as a European one and requires the same quality of food
The Czech Agriculture and Food Inspection Authority (SZPI) regularly conduct research on consumer preferences. In October and November 2015, their sociological research has focused on how Czech consumers perceive the situation where a number of foreign manufacturers of food supplied products of different composition under the same name to different national markets, often on the grounds that in different countries, people have different tastes. Research has shown that it is not the case in the Czech Republic, and also that 88% of respondents are annoyed by this current practice. 36 percent of Czech consumers said that this was just a blatant manipulation.
CEITEC and ROLOFOL cooperation cemented by signature
Chairman of the Board of Directors of ROLOFOL, Václav Kučerka and Director of the Central Institute of Technology CEITEC at BUT Radimír Vrba have signed an extended cooperation agreement at EMBAX PRINT today. That means for the company ROLOFOL an opportunity to use a wider scientific basis. "We operate in a very competitive environment. To be successful in foreign markets, we need to offer to our customers top quality and something more. And this is helped not only by our own diligence, but also the fact we have the possibility to use scientific knowledge," says Miroslav Zeman, business director of ROLOFOL.

On the opening day of SALIMA food fairs and EMBAX PRINT, a foreign delegation visited the Brno Exhibition Centre at the invitation of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Veterinarians discussed the safety of food production and processing
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), physically dangerous foods account for the deaths of two million people worldwide. Each year, 310,000 cases of illness from bacteria on food are diagnosed in the European Union. These figures, pointing out the big responsibility of producers, traders and inspection agencies, were mentioned at the veterinarians’ conference, which is being held for the thirteenth time.

More than 28.500 m2 of the Brno Exhibition Centre will feature more than 794 exhibiting companies and 435 represented brands from 36 countries and the European Union from today to Saturday. The jubilee 30th annual SALIMA food fair and also VINEX, MBK and INTECO fairs. The packaging and printing fair EMBAXPRINT begins on the same day but it will only last until Friday, 19 February 2016.
