René Castro from the Food and Agriculture Organization to appear at Tuesday's conference
Not only Czech but also international experts will appear at the conference "The Future of Czech Agriculture", which is part of the supporting program of the Techagro 2018 trade fair. One of them will be René Castro Salazar from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This former politician from Costa Rica currently holds a leading position in the Department of Climate, Biodiversity, Soil and Water. He is a holder of a number of degrees from universities in Harvard and Costa Rica and is a renowned fighter against desertification of landscape, and illegal logging and timber trade. In his work, he also seeks to restore forest vegetation and tackles climate change issues.
He will attend this year's Techagro as representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations – a specialized United Nations office that allows combining efforts of all countries to fight against hunger. The FAO’s activities also focus on possible improvement of methods used in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Last year, this organization had nearly 200 member states.
