New Zetor Forterra HD model arrives on the market already in July
Traditional Czech manufacturer of agricultural equipment, the company ZETOR TRACTORS presented a new tractor model named Forterra HD at the fair TECHAGRO. It brings Zetor into the 150 hp performance category.
This model contains several design enhancements that build on innovative technology solutions of the Forterra HSX model, and move up in both performance and safety, and in terms of comfort. The main technical innovations of the Forterra HD model include a wider wheelbase, which increased compared to the Forterra HSX wheelbase by about 130 mm to 2720 mm, allowing even better stability of the tractor.
"A significant modernization is also shown on the tractor engine with a modified cylinder head with four valves per cylinder. The engine also features high torque rise by 35 percent, excellent starting capabilities even in adverse conditions of temperature and long life up to 8000 hours," said Jaroslav Gottwald, sales manager of the company. Great attention was paid to researching noise and vibration in this model. This led to design solutions that allow the possibility of achieving noise levels around the 74 dB limit. The cab of the tractor is also complemented by new flooring combined with a significant reduction of noise and vibration transmission to the driver's workplace.
"Our goal is to constantly improve the usefulness of the Zetor tractors and the new Forterra HD model as one of the projects is an example. It is not just the bigger brother of the current model Zetor Forterra HSX, but a completely separate model in our range. At the same time this model extends our offer in terms of performance, as Forterra HD will be available in the category of 150 horsepower," says David Kollhammer project manager of ZETOR TRACTORS a.s. First, the Forterra HD model will meet its customers in the 130 and 140 horsepower output categories. The expected date for the start of serial production of this tractor is planned for the end of the first half of 2014.
Zetor Forterra HD also features a few new design elements within the hinged fairing and the security cabin. These include for example separate main headlights, high beam and dimmed with clear optics and plough headlights. Other technical improvements of the Zetor Forterra HD include the front drive axles with a differential, additional four-section distributor of hydraulics with electrohydraulic controls, auxiliary two-section switchboard for front three-point linkage and front outlets, new design of the right multifunction control panel in the cab and cab suspension.
The PTO clutch of the Forterra HD model has new solution in feedback-controlled start-up (theoretical acceleration curve has a duration of less than 3 seconds). The tractor also features reinforced axle housing and an extended axle. That way the tractor withstands greater burden on the three-point hitch. The tractor weight was reduced by 30 kg compared with the Forterra HSX model (from 4850 kg in Forterra HSX to 4,820 kg). It is possible to equip the tractor for example with a 120 l / min pump with variable delivery or front driven axle suspension. The aim of the Zetor group until 2016 is to produce six model series instead of the current three, with outputs from 60 to 200 hp.
The first Zetor tractor Z 25 was produced in 1946 in Brno-Líšeň. In the mid-1950’s the production of more powerful tractors named Zetor 35 Super and Zetor Super 50 was initiated. Zetor 25 tractors were produced continuously until 1961. Then three basic UŘ I tractor types hit the market - Zetor 2011, 3011 and 4011. The Zetor UŘ II tractor was introduced into production in late 1968 and since 1991 Zetor included in their series programme tractors with further modernization under the name UŘ III. Two years later new modernized tractors UŘ I were presented, numbered as Model 92, also known today as Zetor Major. Currently, production of the Model 92 continues. In 2001, the Zetor family added tractors of the latest series under the trade name Forterra, presenting an upgraded range of UŘ III with four-cylinder and six-cylinder engines.
