URBIS SMART CITY FAIR and FUTURE MOBILITY bring the topics of transpot, innovation and smart solutions to the Brno Exhibition Center

From 20 to 22 September, the Brno Exhibition Centre will host the URBIS SMART CITY FAIR, and the new FUTURE MOBILITY project focused on transport. The events are incorporated into the European Mobility Week. URBIS and FUTURE MOBILITY are meant for municipal representatives and all those who are active in the transport sector. A Clean Mobility Day with a programme for the public and with free admission is planned for 22 September.

URBIS SMART CITY FAIR will present solutions for municipalities and cities

The stands of the City of Brno and additional municipal companies will offer applied smart solutions, such as an intersection controlled by an intelligent traffic system or an app that informs citizens about street cleaning days. "Additional exhibitors in Hall A1 will show mainly software solutions, including applications for public participation in decision-making processes. An interesting feature will be the Demo City in front of Hall A1, which will show people some smart solutions in practical life," said project director Petr Maliňák.

The conference part will be dedicated to the energy crisis, smart solutions for municipalities and cities, projects of the Ministry of the Environment for local governments and other topics whose common denominator is sustainability. There will be tens of free workshops.

Brno has long profiled itself as one of the most innovative cities in the Czech Republic. " For a city, being Smart does not just mean technological gadgets, but mainly a change in attitude. Smart planning, supporting, and connecting the city's various stakeholders, openness and sustainability. A process aimed at improving the quality of life of all inhabitants. Much of this will be on display at the fifth edition of URBIS, to which I would like to invite everyone," added 2nd Deputy Mayor of Brno Tomáš Koláčný.

Transport and mobility at FUTURE MOBILITY

For the first time, the FUTURE MOBILITY project will run at the exhibition centre, showing cargo bikes, a last mile delivery robot, electric vehicles, and

and digital transport solutions. "The FUTURE MOBILITY project presents the future shape of transport in cities. It will be based on clean drives, sharing, automation and digital technologies. City inhabitants can therefore look forward to a significant reduction in emissions, shorter travel times, increased comfort and safety of travel and less dependence on the human factor. In my view it is important that these technologies are presented at the Demo City. People can get acquainted with them at the Clean Mobility Day on Thursday," said Markéta Vaňková, Mayor of Brno, in her invite to the expo.

Petr Kratochvíl, City of Brno Councillor in charge of Transport, commented on the premiere of a new project: "FUTURE MOBILITY brings a new technological topic to the Brno Exhibition Centre calendar. We are proud that, for example, institutions and companies based in Brno have participated in the development of an autonomous minibus that will be in operation at the expo. Our city is one of the leaders in this country in the introduction of intelligent transport systems. The company Brněnské komunikace will build and demonstrate a smart controlled intersection at the Demo City. We are in for three days that will show us the future."

The topics of transport and mobility also run through the entire extra programme. Intelligent transport systems are particularly represented here on Wednesday morning, when the Current Trends and Challenges in Smart Urban Mobility conference will take place on the main stage. FUTURE MOBILITY also features Ideathon, where students and professionals will seek innovative solutions for public transport.

In the context of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the URBAN MOBILITY DAYS conference will take place at the expo concurrently with the URBIS and FUTURE MOBILITY fairs.

Clean Mobility Day will offer education and entertainment

On Thursday, 22 September, the Clean Mobility Day will take place at the expo, which is aimed at the public. Admission will be free on that day. People will learn about the transport of the future in a fun way: cargo bike races will take place; people can try out an obstacle course for scooters or take a ride in an electric car.

People can also take part in special guided tours of the Exhibition Centre by bike or scooter. The free tours will take place from 1pm and 3.30pm and due to limited capacity, you may need to register for them on the website www.futuremobility.cz.
