International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry

2013 – TOS celebrates 65th anniversary of its incorporation

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the incorporation of TOS Svitavy, we would like to invite you to this year’s WOOD-TEC – the most prestigious fair in the field of wood working in the new space defined by the European Union, taking place between 22nd -25th October 2013 at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Besides the new milling cutter FWH 650, we will present the product of further development in the ripsaw PWR series.

TOS Svitavy was incorporated by the former Ministry of Industry in spring 1948 at the premises of the former textile factory Sponer, where the factories Reform, Starman and the Anderle foundry merged. In the beginning, TOS Svitavy had other operations in Kostelec nad Orlicí, Velké Šťáhli and in Slatina u Brna.

TOS production programme continued the tradition of the small mechanical engineering firms Reform, Johann, Kindl and others that had been engaged in the production of wood working machines in Svitavy.

Throughout this period, the main production programme focused on two sectors – production of wood working machines and production of chucks. Until 1973, the company was also strong in manufacturing table-mounted and column-mounted drills. The numbers of wood working machines totalled tens of thousands, the numbers of produced chucks reached millions and they were exported to virtually all counties around the world.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s, TOS Svitavy was a part of the present concern Továrny strojírenské techniky.

Since 1996, the majority owner of TOS Svitavy has been B.G.M. Holding a.s.

From 1949, TOS Svitavy had its own trade school training several generations of mechanical engineering professionals. Since 1991, the trade school has been administered by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Education.

Since its incorporation, TOS Svitavy has had its own research centre for both production programmes.

At present, TOS Svitavy offers  comprehensive series of single-shaft and double-shaft ripsaws with a range of custom-made modifications. The most frequent ones include adjustable casings, reinforced design with motors offering an output of 90kW and a version with another input driven pressure roll. The offer is complemented by cross cut saws, surface planers and joinery machines.

A principal innovation launched this year by TOS Svitavy is the new wood working machine FWH 650 developed as a reliable solution for massive block working. The machines are also suitable for lines processing semi-finished products for timber-frame structures (KVH and BSH profiles).

As regards chucks, TOS Svitavy offers various sizes of chucks with clamping diameters from 80 to 630mm. A large part of or production consists of cooperative production in order to make use of our full production capacity.

We hope that the successful tradition of engineering production in Svitavy will continue.

We look forward to meeting you at the WOOD-TEC 2013 fair at our stand No. 005, Hall P, where you can obtain further  information.
