International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry

Furniture industry in the CR is at the European cutting edge

The furniture industry which is, to a great extent, directly related to the construction industry, has not been spared by the economic crisis, either. The gradual drop in the furniture sales since 2008 has been one of the main construction industry downturn signals in the Czech Republic, in basically all categories, in particular, in relation to the office and housing unit furnishing – as a result of the economic slump.

The main potential of the Czech manufacturers consists in the availability of the basic material (blanks, particle boards, veneer, balks etc.) coming from the country. The Czech manufacturers offer unique production, i.e. steam bent furniture, as well as design elements such as fittings, handles and locks.  In terms of international competition, the Czech manufacturers are at the European cutting edge in this sector. „Traditional, innovated or interesting designs of fittings, locks, joining elements and others are also presented at the WOOD-TEC fair. The exhibitors will introduce these products in hall F,“ says Miloň Mlčák.

The prospects of the furniture industry call for extended business and cooperation relationships in the internal EU markets and also in the third countries, focusing mainly on the Russian Federation. „Participation at the fair can be the right step to strengthen the present contacts, re-establish business relationships and win new contracts. As part of the fair promotion in the media, we closely cooperate with the countries of the former Russian Federation and specialist magazine journalists, not only from these countries, are invited to the fair,“ adds Miloň Mlčák.
