International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry

WOOD-TEC 2017 will show the way to increase efficiency of timber processing and furniture manufacturing

The 15th WOOD-TEC International Fair for Wood Processing and Furniture Industry will be held at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 31 October to 3 November 2017. The participation of exhibitors – especially in the field of machinery – clearly reaffirms that this fair is the most important meeting point for experts in timber processing and furniture manufacturing industry in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. WOOD-TEC is located in Halls A2 (components for furniture manufacturing) and V (machinery). Presentation of machinery is excellent without exaggeration this year, there are more than 200 brands in total, and almost none of those represented on the Czech and Slovak markets will be missing. Exhibitors have also announced news displayed at this year's LIGNA fair.

In Hall A2, visitors will find companies exhibiting components for furniture manufacturing – fittings, glues, paints or surfaces. Universities and professional associations are also featured, as this hall is mainly the center of the supporting program. Here is also located the WOOD-TEC Arena, a lounge and a display of the WOOD-TEC Award exhibit competition.

Increase in efficiency, automation and robotisation

WOOD-TEC 2017 makes effort to contribute to handling the current situation in the timber processing and furniture manufacturing industries, which are facing an increasing amount of orders. Exhibitors therefore come up with automated, robotised and digitized machinery that not only increases the efficiency of production but also the work comfort. The supporting programme addresses the same topics.

Supporting programme will bring about mainly practical information

The programme in the WOOD-TEC Arena in Hall A2 focuses mainly on providing practical information for timber processing and furniture manufacturing. Lectures and seminars from this area are grouped in the Technology Day (1 November) and the Furniture Day (2 November).

In 2017, for the first time ever, WOOD-TEC will also feature and exhibit competition called WOOD-TEC Award. Announcement of the results of the competition will take place on Tuesday from 4 pm in Hall A2; in the same place, visitors view a display with nominated exhibits.

Czech producers at WOOD-TEC 2017

Most Czech producers of machines for timber processing and furniture manufacturing will present their produce at WOOD-TEC. TOS Svitavy, for example, has expanded its exhibition area this year, so that it can introduce novelties for timber processing  plants. This year, for example, it has prepared an innovative double-shaft saw PWR 412 including input and output conveyors DWS 3 and DWS 20, which facilitate the longitudinal cutting of wooden prisms and laths. Sawing machines will be of especial interest mainly for woodworkers or manufacturers of various products from pallets through doors to solid wood furniture.

The company VYDONA will also come with woodworking tools and special tool systems for wood, plastic and metal. In addition to servicing, it also develops and manufactures special tools tailored to the needs of its customers. Another representative of Czech companies will be STÖRI MANTEL, which combines Czech manufacturing and Swiss experience. The company focuses on the development and production of timber processing machines and provides its clients with expert advice. Representatives of the company will introduce the development and production of devices such as cutting machines and other cross cutting technologies, longitudinal saws and pallet-making technology.

The South Bohemian company ELBH-CZ presents ecological systems of timber waste disposal at the trade fair. It represents more than a quarter of a century of experience with technologies for the suction, storage and disposal of timber waste. The company ACWord, which is also the sole representative of SCHUKO for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, will also show its processes for the suction and processing of timber waste and sawdust, filtration or briquetting and others,  offering among others, filtration units with the latest filter regeneration technology. PILANA and its cooperating company, PILANA SAW BODIES, which focuses on producing woodworking tools, saw blades and belts, industrial knives, metal cutting tools and hand tools, will also be represented among the exhibitors.

The Ostrava-based company Jiri Mynar – machinery production belongs to the manufacturers of a number of unique machines; just a few years ago it launched a world novelty – a unique manual edge banding machine Miniprof Rambo. This year, WOODTEC's visitors will be shown the latest news from the world of Miniprof edge banding machines and its complementary range of products such as glues. Similarly to the other mentioned firms, the company HOUFEK, which specializes in the production of timber processing machines, is increasingly being promoted abroad. At the trade fair, visitors will be introduced to its range of products, which includes, among other things, thicknessing and levelling mills, combined or lower milling machines, broad-belt sanders or machines for final wood finishing.

The Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and the Mendel University in Brno will also present their research projects in the field of timber processing and their implementation in practice.
