International Defence and Security Technologies Fair

Army forces of Czech Republic

This year's display of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic bears a symbolic name "We are a team".

This motto is also valid for Czech soldiers' deployment in missions abroad. This time, the exposition of the Defence Ministry will Orfee a unique and excellent opportunity to get a glimpse of the life at a military base during deployment of a Czech Armed Forces unit abroad. Naturally, the size and arrangement of each of the base components will be adapted to the size of the whole exposition; however, attentive visitors will have, by the end of the visit, an idea of how it works at a military base. A military base during deployment in operations abroad is in a way a "small city", which, from the first day of deployment in operation to the last provides the entire facilities a unit may need for its work.

Hall P will be the venue of a tactical operations centre and joint operations centre, the notional "heart and brain" of the base. Visitors will see how it operates, they will learn about the methods of communication between the units (digital and analogue communication equipment, communication and information module), they will see a mobile geographical workplace and a tactical meteo station, which forecasts the weather using helium balloons with probes attached to them. The indoor part of the exposition will offer an IVECO LMV vehicle with a mobile reconnaissance jamming system for the detection of radioactivity and the collection of signal samples from the environment, or a mobile electronic warfare systém to support the operation of jammers introduced in units deployed in current operations.

The outdoor part of the exposition, in the area between halls P and K, will exhibit housing zone including lodging containers, a kitchen and a DFAC, logistics and maintenance facilities including an ammunition dump, containers for communication equipment repairs and metrology, a storage container and a mobile workshop. The exposition will also display facilities providing protection and security at the base – an emergency shelter, a force protection zone with an emergency shelter, Hesco walls and a guard tower. Protection of people will be exhibited in the form of EOD and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) protective suits, tEODor and TALON robots for the survey of unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices, and a small decontamination vehicle (MDA) on Tatra chassis-cab, ARTHUR radar and DANA howitzer. The base also offers medical support, which will be exhibited in the form of a mobile casualty ward (POP3), a field transfusion station and a haematology laboratory (PTP, BHL). And last but not least, visitors will see the W3A Sokol helicopter and other equipment and materiel necessary for the functioning of the base in operations.
