Babiš: We must show solidarity towards refugees
When asked whether the Czech Republic was in danger from radical Islamists, [finance minister Andrej] Babiš replied that we were not in imminent danger, but he was really dealing with the idea of intensive armament of the Czech army due to the proximity of conflicts. In this context, Babiš specifically mentioned Ukraine, the struggle against the Islamic State in the Middle East and the terrorist attacks in Europe.
NSPA will participate in IDET 2015
Visitors to the exhibit will have a chance to learn about the full range of NSPA capability, products and services in the areas of support to military operations, fuel provisioning, procurement and eprocurement and multi-modal transport support.

The Army wants to spend, it has targeted equipment for 100 billion
After several years of frugality, when the government slashed defence spending, the Army hopes to be able to spend more again. And it has developed an appetite. Members of the defence committee could see this on Wednesday. Deputy Chief of Staff František Maleninský presented a plan at committee meeting what the army would like to purchase over the next ten years. All in all, it should be technology and weapons worth more than 100 billion.

The Army will acquire Pandur salvage vehicles for 191 Million
The Army plans to buy salvage vehicles that could be helping for example in Pandur armoured vehicle accidents. The offer, which the Ministry of Defence announced in late September, has an expected value of 191 million. It is based on information published in the Journal of Public Procurement and on answers of the Ministry of Defence.
The Army will buy 3D radars alone, the Visegrad countries project fell through
The Ministry of Defence has decided to purchase the MADR mobile 3D radars through a tender. The Czech defence industry should be involved in the contract, as the Ministry spokesman Petr Medek announced on Tuesday. Thus the possibility of joint procurement within the Visegrad Four (V4) is not materialize.
Army Chief in favour of maintaining the special hospital in Těchonín
The Chief of Staff of the Army of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel is heading to a top military post in NATO, but first he took the time to visit the Centre of Biological Protection in Těchonín in the Ústí nad Orlicí district on Tuesday.
IDET 2015 – new impulses for exhibitors and visitors
Preparations for the upcoming run of the International Fair of Defence and Security Technology IDET are in full swing. The most important export-promoting event for the Czech defence industry will be held on 19 – 21 May 2015, together with the International Fair of Fire and Security Technology and Services PYROS / ISET and the International Fair of Personal Protective Equipment, Health and Safety at Work, INTERPROTEC.
The Army will get a raise, confirmed the prime minister after a visit with minister Stropnický
Visiting the Ministry of Defence on Thursday, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka confirmed that he would propose an increase of the military budget to CZK 43.5 billion next year. The visit was part of the prime minister's tour of the individual ministries. Thursday's "inspection" in the office of Martin Stropnický was however not a mere formality.
An all-rounder instead of a battle Mi-24. The Army wants new helicopters
The Air Force expects an acquisition of new helicopters in the coming years. It will say goodbye to the a heavy Mi-24 battle aircraft, obtained with others as an unblocking of the Russian debt. Even the Polish Sokol rescue helicopters may be laid off. Defence Minister Martin Stropnický must find the billions of Crowns for the new multipurpose helicopters in the already tight budget.

Successful presentation of the defence, fire and safety technology in Brno
A tandem of integrated rescue system fairs brought more than twenty-five thousand people interested in the most advanced defence, security and fire equipment from more than thirty countries to the Brno Exhibition Centre. In addition to presentations, business deals were also made and the Czech arms factory published a contract to supply 50,000 pistols worth several hundred million to Egypt.

Traditionally, Czech arms factory Zbrojovka presents its exhibits at IDET in Hall P in a comprehensive range of the latest personal weapons for defence and security forces, and visitors may try some of them on the spot. Therefore, there are always a lot of people at the exhibition, waiting to have a chance to take a gun in their hand.
New technologies bring new threats
Ways to counter them effectively were the focus of ITTE 2013 international conference with the theme "Live Defence Against Cyber-Attacks On State Critical Infrastructure". Participants from both the military and the civilian sector discussed options for solving these new problems and saw demonstrations of defence against external and internal attacks.
A large presentation of the Legions Association at IDET, Legiotrain set off next September
The Czechoslovak Legions are presented at IDET at the outdoor area in front of Hall V with their Legiotrain 100 project, designed for the centenary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. The exhibition includes among other things three cars of this legendary train, with soldiers and ladies in period uniforms, as well as demonstrations of equipment and gear of the Czechoslovak Legions in a period camp.
IDET NEWS 2013 awards the best exhibits
An international journalists jury selected outstanding products in the IDET exhibition space, which were awarded the prestigious traditional IDET NEWS prize. The winners of this year's edition were selected through choices of professional journalists from abroad and the entire jury was headed by colonel Jörg Aschenbrenner, Austrian Truppendienst editor and ex-president of the European Military Press Association EMPA, which brings together more than forty defence ministry magazines of EU countries.
