Young bakers created a new Czech record

 

The six competing young bakers tried to break the 2012 record in pleating thirty twists in time at the Brno Exhibition Centre on Thursday. And it was a success! When the stopwatch of Miroslav Marek of the Pelhřimov Dobrý den Agency stopped at the time of 3:47:45, the student of the third year of the Secondary Vocational School Of Gastronomy And Food from Jeseník Andrea Kubalová could triumphantly raise her arms above her head. She surpassed the record valid until then by seven seconds.

The six fastest of fifteen students made it through to the final, four girls and two boys, who first had to pleat half the number, i.e. 15 twists in competition Baker of the Year 2014 - Junior. The final was very close and the winner was parted from the second place by just one second. "It's a new Czech record," said Miroslav Marek, who added several attractions from his field. For example, the fact that the agency ha previously registered the longest bread in the Czech Republic, the largest bread Christmas crib or Karlštejn Castle made of bread.

The Business Association of Bakers and Confectioners of the Czech Republic, who announced the Baker of the Year competition for the nineteenth time this year, also announced further results in three categories today. "Gamekeeper’s World" from the workshop of Markéta Šustová a Anna Konečná became The Most Attractive Bakery Product from the Vocational School of Gastronomy and Services in Nová Paka. In the confectionery category, the jury took most liking to the “Wedding Day” by Monika Hermanová from the Vocational School of Food, Trade and Services in Brno. After two days of competition, Baker of the Year 2014 award was given to David Federla from the Hotel and Services Vocational School from Kroměříž. "The competition was very tight and competitors achieved good results. It is good news that we have young hopefuls in our field, and I wish them to stay on in the craft," said Roman Teisler, Chairman of the Business Association of Bakers and Confectioners of the Czech Republic at the conclusion of the competition.
