Confirmed: Czechs are best at deer calling!

The Czechs dominated the 24^th European Deer Calling Championship, taking the first two places and winning the team competition. The Brno Exhibition Centre hosted this event for the first time. Jan Brtník became the European Champion for the seventh time already.

In the competition of the best deer-callers from twelve European countries, the Czech representatives were just as successful as last year. They defended last year's first place in the team competition and the overall winner Jan Brtník even won the title of European Champion for the seventh time. His teammate Tomáš Třeský was on his heels this time; as the president of the Czech Game-calling Club, he also participated in this year's European Championship as organiser. After the first part of the competition with two disciplines, he and Jan Brtník had exactly the same number of points, so the gold and silver were decided by their performances in the final part of the competition, with the 'Voice of an old seeking deer' and 'Voice of a deer standing by a female' disciplines. The third place belongs to the representative of Estonia. In the team competition, Slovakia came second and a three-member team from Hungary took the bronze.

The European Championships were held in Hall G2, outside the proper premises of the National Gamekeeping Show, so that the competitors had the necessary quiet and ten judges could hear and judge their imitation of deer voices. Although loud cheering was forbidden for the sake of objectivity of the anonymous evaluation, the performances of the best European deer-callers attracted a lot of spectators who completely occupied the entire auditorium. The participants of the European Deer Calling Championship in Brno praised the pleasant environment and the high quality of the organisation, and are looking forward to the continuation in Poland next year.
