Czech agro-industry compares favourably with the world's best
The quality of Czech agricultural machinery and equipment is also proved by international trade which is picking up again following the years of crisis between 2009 and 2010, when it dropped by ca. 30 % compared to the previous period. In 2011, the foreign trade revived and this trend has continued in the following years.
In 2014, Czech firms produced 2,453 tractors, the production over the past 5 years has been on a slight rise
Following the critical years of 2009 and 2010, the funds invested in the purchase of agricultural machinery have been slightly rising again. This is documented by the Czech tractor manufacture sales figures: 1,721 pcs were produced in 2009 and in 2014 it was as much as 2,453 pcs. A similar number is expected this year.

Historical record-breaking TECHAGRO 2014 – preliminary final report
The group of agricultural and forestry equipment trade fairs was record-breaking in all its parameters. The indoor as well as outdoor exhibition spaces at the Brno Exhibition Centre were used up to the full capacity, the exhibition stands even occupied lawns and other unusual exhibition spaces. The number of visitors surpassed all expectations and soared up to 120 thousand people over five days. Over the first three months of the year, a total of 340,000 people thus came to visit the Exhibition Centre in Brno. An absolute record was recorded on Sunday, 30th March, when the exhibition centre gates were crossed by as much as 38,034 visitors making it the highest number in all trade fairs organised in Brno over the past 10 years. Just during the first day, the number of arriving visitors was higher than during the entire first edition of the fair back in 1994. „This year’s Techagro has definitively confirmed its supra-regional Central European importance, being one of the three leading agrarian technology fairs in Europe,“ said Managing Director of BVV Trade Fairs Brno, Jiří Kuliš.
A new innovation support framework in agriculture
New activities of the European Commission in the field of knowledge and innovation transfer were presented at a seminar title "Innovations in Agriculture", which was held on the occasion of the TECHAGRO exhibition by the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Veterinarians discussed the antibiotic policy
The Brno Exhibition Centre welcomed participants of the 6th Central European Veterinary Congress today, which focuses on antibiotics policy, its vision and the real situation in veterinary practice. The two-day congress is usually attended by veterinarians, but also farmers, representatives of professional associations, researchers, manufacturers of veterinary drugs and students. The speakers who spoke today at this two-day expert meeting at the Congress Centre also included representatives of major institutions - Koen Van Dyck of the European Commission and Declan O 'Brien from IFAH-Europe.
Children learn about the forest through forest education
The sought-after exhibitions on the gallery of Hall Z include Forest education, where especially young visitors become familiar with forest management and the diverse work of foresters in an interactive way.
Year of Family Farm
In the presence of the Minister of Agriculture Marian Jurečka a meeting of farmers including representatives of family farms was held at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Interest in the topic was confirmed by completely filled hall of the Congress Centre. The meeting of family farms was organized by the Association of Private Farming, which also introduced four key events in 2014.
The gallery of Hall Z comes alive!
An otherwise underused space attracts visitors of the SILVA REGINA fair to a series of topical exhibitions, among others exhibits of Eurasian game or unique historical forest maps, but also to the hunter's restaurant with venison delicacies.
